Barefoot Garden Cafe

As you go down the Galle Road and the restaurant is just past the Bambalapitiya Junction. You will see the Barefoot Store. Walk through the store to an average sized parking lot adjoining 8th Lane. The café is a stone paved open court yard with seating that is available depending on the demand or the number of reservations. Apart from the food, there is an art gallery, a bar, crannies and balconies which are used for plays and events.

There is a variety of dishes they serve. Anytime of the day you can have sandwiches or falafel or bites even iced teas, peanut smoothies and the other lot. Lunch consists of some appetizing and mouth watering meals ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500. These include delicious pork curries to quiche. Try the soups off board .They are all fantastic in their own ways. And do not miss the desserts. They have some good stuff for you.

They serve alcohol all day on the weekends, but during the weekdays no beer or alcohol will be served between 2.00 pm to 5.00pm. So, if you are planning a late lunch make sure you order the beer or other wine paid before 2.00pm. They will keep them chilled for you.

Barefoot holds many events, both private and public. These would be concerts, exhibitions, weddings and corporate meet-ups. The Wednesday Pub Quiz is a reliable one. And if you drop by, there’s always art available to see and even buy. You can have a little kick back and listen to music too. You can just order an iced tea and enjoy there for hours unlike many other restaurants in Colombo where they seem to hurry to shift tables for guests.

The Restaurant is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 7pm and from 11am to 5pm on Sundays. If you are staying just one day in Colombo, this is a place you shouldn’t miss.
